This course has been designed for Disability Support Workers, who as part of their role, provide care to clients at risk of pressure injuries. 


The course will cover

- Understanding the structure of the skin and underlying tissue

- Discussing the factors that increase the risk of pressure injuries

- Outlining the body areas most at risk of pressure injury development

- Describing the 6 stages of pressure injuries

- Explaining strategies which can be implemented to reduce the risk or development of pressure injuries

including skin risk assessment such as Braden Scale

- Explaining the main methods of pressure injury wound care

- Assessment and prevention strategies to reduce the risk of pressure injuries
